Working with Midwives

WORKING WITH OUR LOCAL MIDWIVES....TO ACHIEVE BETTER HEALTH FOR MOTHERS & BABIES!

We have liaised with many local midwives for many years now.  By working with midwives we can provide support for both mothers and babies as they move from pre-conception care through to birth and beyond.  Our chiropractors continue to collaborate with midwives for a range of reasons, including:   

• lactation/breastfeeding difficulties
• nutrition
• pre-conception care
• care during pregnancy
• preparation for birth
• care during and after birth
• early chiropractic care for newborn babies
• ....even chiropractic care for the midwives themselves! 

Midwives and chiropractors are very similar in their approach to health for mothers and babies.  Both professionals believe in natural, non-invasive birthing where possible, and in supporting the wishes of parents during the whole process.  At Family Wellness Chiropractic, we strongly believe that every mother should have access to chiropractic care during pregnancy, and every baby should be checked as soon as possible after birth (as well as the mother)....even a normal birth (without intervention of any kind) can place significant stress and impact upon the delicate nervous system of a newborn baby.  By checking babies early, it allows any subluxations (or pressure on nerves) to be rectified early, and enables the baby to grow and develop as it should be. 

To this end we offer the following services to our clients (and local midwives): 

• home visits post-birth or on return from hospital to check mother and baby - this appointment can be negotiated for our clients.  Please call our office for further information.
• special rates for adjustments for midwives.  We know the dedication required to support a labouring mother for hours, and the strain it can put on your spine, back and nervous system in general (sometimes producing symptoms such as lower back problems or persistent headaches/migraines).     A spinal checkup and adjustment can help you to perform at your best...so that you can better look after mothers and babies!
